RAM HORN SPRINGS…🐑
We sometimes see Valais Blacknose rams lambs/shearlings horns growing too close to their faces ending up causing rubbing and sores.
Here is a shearling where his horns have grown very tight to his ears and face. We have applied a ram horn spring which is very easy to do by drilling a hole on either end of the horns (as seen in pictures below), these are big enough for the end of the springs to fit in comfortably. This gives enough pressure to allow the horn to grow away from the face. Care must be taken to monitor this growth as it can be overdone.
We hope this helps anybody querying ram horn growth these springs can be bought from your local agricultural shop. 😁
