What you need to know about this year’s event:

SHOW ENTRIES

  • Spaces for grading entries are limited to 250 entries.  Entries will be managed on a first come, first served basis, and capped at a maximum of 10 entries per exhibitor.
  • Entries must not have been graded previously at another grading event in 2024.
  • Please enter via your Grassroots login
  • All sheep entered must be born between 23/08/2021 and 23/04/2024
  • Please make sure you enter under your correct MV status
  • Entries open: 7pm Monday, 24th June 2024
  • Entries close: 9pm Monday 8th, July 2024
  • Payment should be made at time of entry and must be paid by Thursday 11th July . Non payment by this date will result in entries being removed from the catalogue.
  • Entries after closing date will not be accepted. No late entries.
  • No substitutes allowed after closing date.
  • Entries for grading must be registered (registration pending / birth notified will be accepted).
  • Entry fee for Grading is £20 per sheep
  • Entries can only be graded once a year. Entries must not have been graded previously in 2024, nor be registered in any upcoming scheduled grading events in 2024.

 GRADING

  • Grading will be managed by qualified UK graders who have undergone training with Oberwalliser Schwarznasen Schafzuchtverband (Upper Valais Sheep Breeders Association).
  • Appointed UK Graders are Jenni McAllister, Jamie Wood, along with Swiss Graders Philipp Schmid and Pascal Dini.

 SALE

  • Entry fee for Grading & For Sale is £30 per sheep
  • Sheep entered for sale must be graded.
  • There is a maximum of 5 sale entries per exhibitor.
  • The sale of rams is capped at a maximum of 2 per exhibitor.
  • Rams entered for sale must qualify for sale – No more than 2 points deducted (Points can be deducted from any of the 3 grading categories, limited to 1 point per category).
  • Sale fees will be refunded for non-qualifying entries
  • Entries for sale must be fully registered. Entries which are not fully registered (i.e. Registration Pending, DNA Pending) on the day of sale, will be removed from the sale.
  • Sale entries can be amended by the exhibitor (ewes & rams) on Friday, 23rd August following grading if they wish. A final sale list will be produced post grading. Any sheep removed by the exhibitor from the sale post-grading will not be refunded.
  • Entries removed from the sale by the exhibitor after Monday, 22nd July 2024 will not be refunded.

YOUNG HANDLER ENTRIES

  • Young Handler competition entries open Monday, 24th June 2024
  • Entries close Monday, 8th July 2024
  • Classes are Age 8 & Under and Age 9 & Over (entrants must not be over 16 years of age)
  • Entry is free
  • Entrants are required to wear white show coats and society tie/scarf as per society show rules.
  • Entrants/parents of entrants must be VBS members.
  • Young Handler entries will also be accepted on the day

HELP WANTED

Little bits of help wherever available are always appreciated. In particular we are looking for volunteers to help on the society stand over the course of the two days, if you have a spare hour or so and would like to help, please email: shows@valaisblacknosesociety.co.uk

RAFFLE

A live raffle will be held at the show on Friday evening, if you would like to donate any prizes, please inform us via email: shows@valaisblacknosesociety.co.uk

Tickets will be available for sale throughout the day on Friday from the VBS Society Stand.

All monies raised will be donated to this year’s chosen charity.
