Southern and Welsh Grading and Show & Sale: what you need to know about it.

VENUE & DATE:              Monmouth Livestock Market, Friday 5th July 2024

 SHOW ENTRIES:

  • Spaces for grading are limited to 150 entries.  Entries will be managed on a first come, first served basis, and capped at a maximum of 10 entries per exhibitor.
  • Entries must not have been graded previously at another grading event in 2024.
  • Please enter this event via your Grassroots login.
  • Entries open: Monday, 6th May 2024 at 9am.
  • Entries close: Monday, 20th May 2024 at 9pm.
  • Entries submitted after the closing date will not be accepted.
  • Entries for grading must be registered (registration pending / birth notified will be accepted).
  • Entry fee for Grading is £20 per sheep.
  • Entries can only be graded once a year. Entries must not have been graded. previously in 2024, nor be registered in any upcoming scheduled grading events in 2024.

  GRADING:

  • Grading will be managed by qualified UK graders who have undergone training with Oberwalliser Schwarznasen Schafzuchtverband (Upper Valais Sheep Breeders Association).
  • Appointed Graders are – Raymond Irvine,  Chris Slee and  Heather Adams.

 SALE:

  • An additional entry fee of £10 per sheep will be taken for entry to the Grading & For Show & Sale (ie – total of £30 per sheep).
  • Sheep entered for sale must be graded.
  • There is a maximum of 5 sale entries per exhibitor.
  • The sale of rams is capped at a maximum of 2 per exhibitor.
  • Rams entered for sale must qualify for sale – No more than 2 points deducted (Points can be deducted from any of the 3 grading categories, limited to 1 point per category).
  • Sale fees will be refunded for non-qualifying ram entries.
  • Entries for sale must be fully registered. Entries which are not fully registered (i.e. Registration Pending, DNA Pending) on the day of sale, will be removed from the sale.
  • Sale entries can be amended by the exhibitor (ewes & rams) on  the day,  following grading if they wish.  A final sale list will be produced post grading.  Any sheep removed by the exhibitor from the sale post-grading will not be refunded.
  • The Society reserves the right to amalgamate classes should there be insufficient entries.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ALL CONSIGNORS:
ALL SHEEP BEING PUT FORWARD TO THE SHOW AND SALE MUST BE GRADED.
YOU MUST ENTER THE GRADING AND SHOW AND SALE AS TWO SEPARATE EVENTS THROUGH YOUR GRASSROOTS ACCOUNT.
PAYMENT FOR ENTRIES MUST BE RECIEVED IN FULL BY MIDDAY ON WEDNESDAY 22ND MAY.   IF PAYMENT IS NOT RECEIVED BY THIS DATE YOUR ENTRIES WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE CATALOGUE.
