On Friday 18th and Saturday 19th we held our second national show, Blacknose Beauties at Borderway Mart, Carlisle. It was a huge success with 138 sheep being graded by the Swiss Society Oberwalliser Schwarznasenzuchtverband, who also kindly sponsored a class.
The best sheep in each category were then put forward to the final show on Saturday with last years Overall Champion Highland Breeze from Raymond Irvine and Jenni McAllister taking the top spot again. Raymond and Jenni also sold Highland Dusty for 2700gns and Highland Esther for 3500gns in the sale after the show, both bought by Elaine Boyle in Northern Ireland.
Male Champion and Reserve Supreme Champion was Tim Dunne’s Westmorland Edward which was born in March. This lamb was then sold at the auction for 7100gns to Lisa Morgan from Monmouthshire.
Other big sales were in lamb ewe Prendwick Dancer for 4500gns to the same buyer and J and J Simonini’s Highland Duke went to Richard Beattie from Northern Ireland 4200gns.
We would like to thank our sponsors, GSC Greys who were the mainline sponsor, Carrs Billington, Enesco, Ark Vet Centre, Andrew McAllister, Tomintoul Distillery, Oberwallier Schwarzenasenzuchtverband, New Forest Valais Blacknose Sheep, Northumberland Valais Blacknose Sheep, Crookedstane Valais Blacknose Sheep, Highland Valais Blacknose Sheep and Whitehall Valais Blacknose Sheep.
